Yu Yao, General Manager of Liaoning Anyu Energy Group, Visited Cyprus to Investigate Local Photovoltaic Power Generation Projects

Cyprus is an island country located on the border between southern Europe and Asia, in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, with an area of 9251 square kilometers (approximately three fifths of the size of Dandong). Cyprus was colonized by ancient Greeks. Cyprus is a developed capitalist country that joined the European Union on May 1, 2004, with a permanent population of approximately 1 million people. Cyprus has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers and warm and humid winters. It has around 300 days of sunlight radiation throughout the year. As of the end of 2018, there were 1 million users of the Cyprus power grid, and the total installed capacity of the state-owned power company was 1478 megawatts, with a maximum load of at least 1284 megawatts, fully meeting the industrial and civilian electricity needs of the entire island.
In July 2011, an explosion occurred at a naval base near Limasso, Cyprus, due to two boxes of gunpowder catching fire, resulting in more than ten deaths and causing damage to the Vasiliko power plant, leading to widespread power outages in the country. At that time, it was the midsummer season, and the temperature had climbed to around 40 degrees Celsius. Power outages and restrictions had a significant impact on people's lives. Afterwards, Serbia Electric Power Company further expanded its installed capacity to ensure safe electricity usage during summer peak periods. In 2017, the Serbian power system underwent reforms and the state-owned power company was divided into two major departments, one responsible for power generation and supply, and the other responsible for transmission and distribution. At present, the Cyprus government is considering revising relevant laws, breaking state-owned monopolies, promoting market-oriented reform of electricity, and achieving electricity market liberalization by mid-2019. After obtaining a license, it can be freely traded.
The electricity consumption of residents on the island is 0.21 euros.
